Pursuit and Capture

The car chase in popular movies provide a protracted experience of violence without resorting to graphic gore. Speed, destruction and impact attract the viewers attention seduces him/her with the display of pursuit and capture. Standard filmic conventions are employed almost every time. We have come to expect the shots, angles, sounds and editing.

By reorganizing the constituent parts of many different sequences from various popular movies we come to appreciate the conventions employed and tropes evoked in the classic car chase. The human editor has been replaced with a search engine that, either randomly or by design, constructs dramatic sequences  a database-driven mash-up that highlights not so much contrasts but similarities in this popular genre.
